COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Clinical Bodywork techniques for the ribs, abdomen, and neck

Freeing the breath helps to regulate stress and the nervous system, and also ties into postural issues that affect the whole body. Breath dysfunction can contribute to chronic fatigue, neck, back and pelvic pain, anxiety and depression, and more. In this Clinical Skills class we will explore the muscles and fascia essential to achieving deep and easy breath.

We will cover clinical techniques for the ribcage, abdomen, and anterior neck, to help expand the rib cage, increase the flexibility of the diaphragm and spine, and get results for clients with breath limitations or pain in the neck or back. Our approach to tissue engagement is designed to elevate your clinical skillset and make your work more effective, efficient, and intentional.

Learn myofascial and active techniques for psoas, diaphragm, rectus abdominus, sternum, subclavius, scalenes, and more.

This class offers 16 CEU credits.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to more effectively engage the tissue before and during the application of techniques
  • How to communicate with clients about their issues, concerns, and expectations
  • Proper working biomechanics to enhance your precision while protecting your body from overuse and fatigue injuries
  • How to make postural assessments and apply the correct treatment method for those assessments in real time
  • How to analyze clients’ biomechanics, posture, and ROM in the areas of the ribcage, low back, hips and neck
  • Advanced Clinical Bodywork techniques to use with clients suffering from low back pain and breathing dysfunctions
