COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Clinical Bodywork techniques for the arms, hands, rib cage, and shoulder girdle.
Client symptoms: arthritis, wrist pain, forearm pain, elbow pain, lack of proper breath biomechanics, broken collarbone, and pain into the side of the rib cage.
The Clinical Bodywork Series teaches advanced massage techniques and palpation skills. In this class, we will explore and analyze every facet of what makes your Clinical Bodywork session successful with each individual client from touch skills, postural assessments, effective applications of Clinical Bodywork techniques, biomechanics, knowledge and communication skills. The class will introduce you to techniques for the diaphragm, carpal tunnel syndrome, mobilization of the collarbone and inflammation reduction concepts for the metacarpal and phalangeal joints as well as many other advanced techniques for the upper body.
What you will learn:
- The theory of touch (The Myo Method 5 Point Touch Theory) and the importance of informed touch when applying techniques
- How to communicate with clients about their issues, concerns, and expectations
- Proper working biomechanics to enhance your precision while protecting your body from overuse and fatigue injuries
- How to make postural assessments and apply the correct treatment method for those assessments in real time
- How to analyze client’s biomechanics, posture and ROM in the areas of the shoulders, arms, wrists, fingers, and rib cage
- Clinical Bodywork techniques to use with clients suffering with medially rotated shoulders, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and breathing pattern disorders
- Breath analysis and its involvement in posture
